日本人が英語を勉強する、と聞いた時、まず何を思い浮かべるだろうか。世の中に山ほど流通している文法書や単語帳を購入し、インプットしたり、はたまたALTと話せば良いと考える人もいるだろう。このように、日本人は、英語を勉強しようと思い立った際に、その方法というのは豊富にあると言えよう。 しかし、その逆はどうだろうか。もし我々が海外に生まれ、日本語を勉強したいという気持ちになったとしよう。日本のアニメが海外で人気になって行くにつれて、日本語学習者や、日本語に興味を持ち出した海外の人々は、事実、喜ばしいことに増えているため、おかしな話ではない。そのように思いたった時、無論、海外では日本語は必修ではないため、世に出回っている参考書や、ALTの数も少ないのである。このように、人気の度合いに対して、教育者が圧倒的に不足しているのである。

言語学は実学であり、それを学ぶことは多いに有意義であり、美しい行為であると言えよう。

ゆえに、私はこのような状況を打開するために、まず今現在学習をしている海外に住む方々をサポートするべきだと思い立った次第である。

When Japanese people hear the words "study English," what first comes to mind? Some may think that they can just buy one of the many grammar books or vocabulary books available in the world, or they may think that they can just talk to an ALT. In this way, when Japanese people decide to study English, they have a wide variety of ways to do so. But what about the opposite? Suppose we were born abroad and wanted to study Japanese. This is not strange, because as Japanese anime becomes more popular overseas, the number of Japanese language learners and people overseas who are interested in the Japanese language is, in fact, increasing, to our delight.But of course, the number of reference books and ALTs available in the world is small because Japanese is not a required subject in other countries. Thus, there is an overwhelming shortage of educators relative to the level of popularity. Therefore, I have come up with the idea that in order to break out of this situation, we should first support those who are currently studying Japanese.
