I wonder when it is correct to use gendai (contemporary, modern etc.) and when gendaino. I see both.

3Does this answer your question? Why isn't 日本料理 written as 日本の料理? / the omission of an implied "の" creates the appearance of a 四字熟語よじじゅくご? You usually have to use の, but in some fixed compounds like 現代社会 or 現代医療, の is unnecessary. See these search results.– narutoOct 27, 2022 at 0:31
