With reference to this sentence:


I understand this can be translated as "Do you have time?"

Could it also mean "Is there time?"

I think there's a point to be made regarding semantics. I think technically speaking the translation could be "Do [someone] have time?" or "Is there time?", but that the underlying broad meaning would ultimately be the same. I.e., "Does [someone] have time [for something to be done or happen]", or "Is there time [for something to be done or happen]". The sentence would need to be more specific for us to understand the meaning with any greater clarity.

I may have this wrong, but I'm trying to answer my own question, which is proving tricky!
