I came across the following two examples, but I cannot understand their meaning and what that ものだ stands for. Does anybody knows it? The first one goes: "人間というのは、本来一人では生きられないものだ。"While the other one is:" 彼は大会社の社長なのだ。そうは見えなかった。人は外見だけでは分からないものだ。"
