I've taken to teaching myself more Japanese through basic sentences and I'm trying to understand how the で changes the meaning of this one:

She's weak, powerless. A mere human.

Why would we use で in contrast to another particle? Or just none at all? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
