What does 思っていたところです means in this sentence?

I know that Vているところです means "be doing something", while Vたところです means "just did something". Thus, I was wondering under which category falls this sentence. I understand that the meaning should be "I was thinking of calling you just right now", bu I cannot figure out under which category it falls into.

  • Sorry, I don't understand it. In the link you posted there is a similar example, in which however, it was used と思っていたところだった and not と思っていたところです. Are you suggesting that the sentence I posted is incorrect? Could you please give me further explanations? – Alex16 Mar 4 '18 at 18:21
