How close was the Japanese writing system from becoming abolished after World War II? J. Marshall Unger's Literacy and Script Reform in Occupation Japan does a very good job of covering of post-WII Occupational language reforms in Japan (just don't get the pricey hardcover version). |

Is メリー mainly used in the set phrase メリークリスマス? If you use メリー in the context of 私はメリーです, it might be somewhat confusing to the average person. They might think you are saying, "I am Mary/Merry", as if メリー was your name. Perhaps something along the lines of 私はメリーな気持ちを感じられます would be more appropriate? |

Art: What is オブジェ and what is not? In a much simpler sense, wouldn't it be appropriate to refer "a means to a visionary end" be to the end result of a creative piece? The amalgamation of feeling and expression by the artist, the (final/completed) product itself, the 作品/work (of art)? |
