Etymology of 右に出る I think YOU's answer is correct. And, in Japanese '左に出る' phrase does not exist. FYI, there is a tradition the left superior to the right like those in 左大臣(Sadaijin) and 右大臣(Udaijin) or 京雛(Kyoubina). |
