I have been a Tokyo resident for 6 years; I've studied Japanese for 10.

My company Long Weekend LLC develops Awesome mobile software, including Japanese Flash, the best iOS Japanese vocabulary study tool out there. We also develop Rikai Browser, which allows you to translate Japanese words on web pages in realtime on iOS (may be very good for reading this site!).

comment Which is better for a sales budget: 予算, 推計, or something I haven't even thought of yet?
@Tsuyoshi Ito, I wasn't paying attention. You're right, I'll fix that.

comment How would I respectfully disagree with a superior?
I think this is one of the better ways. You're approving the speaker's stance before stating your own (which will probably disagree). My Japanese staff used to use "それもそうかもしれませんけれど" on me all the time :P, usually when they wanted to point out more information that I didn't have in making a decision they disagreed with.

comment What is the difference between the nominalizers こと and の?
Wow, I never knew any of this. Now I want to backtrack in my head through all the conversations I've had and get an idea if I had picked it up implicitly or if I'm just using it wrong.

He may have started with a textbook, but I don't think he ever did more than a few classes here and there with a textbook.

comment At work, when is it not ok to finish an email with どうぞよろしくお願いします?
Troyen - what's the email about? I also use ご返信をお待ちしております when I'm merely expecting a response, not necessarily actual work.
