comment What is that expression used to generally mean “…is what I would say, but…”?
I've started upvoting at random. We need more questions, not harsher restrictions!

Surprise! Hateful elitist comments on this site! Quick, vote to close or else someone might actually learn something! I am disgusted.

I'm native German, so I know what a Doppelgänger is, but it's the first time I hear of it in Japanese. It would be another person who cannot be distinguished (such as a twin), but not necessarily evil or good, or the same character at all. Evil Twins are usually (in comic lore) exact (inverted) copies, down to quirks and thought patterns.

Perhaps an answer instead of a comment?

Ah, I'm getting broadside downvoted now...

comment How can I differentiate between feet and legs?
I put these variants there because all Japanese speakers I know understood the words (blame their English education), and I didn't want people to put something along the lines of "You idiot! Just use the English word!" in their answer. Instead I got the equivalent of "You idiot! That's wrong!", though the bileful comment was deleted by now.

I quickly lost the motivation to improve the question when I saw how much bile I had to face. This comment thread is now multiple pages long and still utterly pointless. The grown up stackoverflow way would be to ignore the question or even answer it to get it off the main page. The elitists way is to argue endlessly over tiny rule differences. I will now vote for closing and deletion. Ideally, someone else will not be able to find this answer in the future, and be annoyed, then you got what you strove for with so much effort: Someone was prevented from learning.
