comment Encountered な with ten-ten
So writing え゛っ(with the extra ゛) as opposed to えっ denotes added surprise without denoting an actual change in sound? (by the way what are those dots called in Japanese and in English?)

is the よう in the ようにして here meaning "state"? As in, "Please watch this, 'in the state' of not being too close." ?

comment Polite way of asking if someone's received an email
sorry for asking an english question but is "someone's received" a contraction of "someone has received"? Would it not be more correct to say, "Polite way of asking if someone received an email"/"Polite way of asking if someone has received an email?" Can you contract "has" in this instance? thanks and sorry for any uptight vibes.

Thank you, I think that answers my query. If you read the book, do you have an opinion on Kashiwagi's intended meaning? My friend said he was a stand-in for Mishima.
