I studied Japanese on my own to some degree for about 5 years. This year, I have finally enrolled in a Japanese course at college. I plan to ask some of my questions on the Japanese Stack Exchange as to not bother my teacher too much with questions unrelated to our current studies... I'm also a Linguistics major, so I may browse the Linguistics Stack Exchange from time to time. Hopefully I will be asking and answering there too one day!

Can you use multiple を in one sentence? Could someone please explain the downvote? It's harmful to downvote without telling the poster what they did wrong. |

Do viruses あります or います? The comments for this answer are getting kind of... well... I feel bad for the answerer... |

How to call the phenomenon where a rectangle Ϳ is shown because font misses glyph? It's an interesting idea, but it seems too specific to only the ones with numbers within the rectangle. The empty rectangles are quite common, even more than the number ones for me. (I just realized that I don't even know what to call this in English...) |

How often is だが used in everyday conversation? I think it could might help your answer if you elaborate on what style/level of speaker would use だが |

So I probably shouldn't use them for something formal? |

@sawa I created this thread because, despite the number Google gave me, I was still unsure about using it. I stated this in my original question. I used Google as a resource (researching my question before asking like I'm supposed to), not as an absolute truth. |

@sawa I didn't know that I couldn't trust Google's number result. But I still agree that the snarkiness was unnecessary, especially since I did nothing wrong really. |

Why is English “ka” and “ca” sometimes rendered as キャ (kya) instead of カ (ka)? Amazing. It makes a lot of sense, but I don't think my own Japanese teacher would've been able to give me this answer... |

How to differentiate friend level in Japanese? +1 for not only the list but for prefacing the list with some information. (Sometimes pure list answers seem so dry...) |

With MS IME, how do I type I have a feeling this question is going to get closed since it's not really about language, but here's an answer... If you're typing based on romaji, then you can type "xi" or "li" or "lyi" I think. If you use a Japanese keyboard layout, then I'm not completely sure... |

Is there a general/default word for “to wear”? That was indeed my original question, but I liked the additional information from this answer. |
