comment Difference between 表れる and 現れる
It would be best to split the かえる part off into a separate question.

comment Translating Dante english to japanese
That line is a paraphrase of Purgatory (V, 13) as used by Marx in Das Kapital. The original appears to say something along the lines of "Come after me..." not "Follow your own path...". One translation is: 我につきて來れ、斯民このたみをその言ふに任まかせよ (山川丙三郎訳)

comment What should I expect to see in JLPT 5?
There used to be four levels for which there were test specifications. The specifications for old level 4 are close to the level for N5, so many people use them as a guide.

ワンタン is a typo, I presume. I think little yippy dogs do sound more like ワンワン than ヲオフ、actually.

comment Is the “wa-particle” in katakana ワ or ハ?
+1 I don't know what that googly-eyed thing is but it's way more adorable than the paperclip.

comment Is there a different meaning for ごちそうさま!
Close to a sarcastic "Thanks for sharing!", perhaps.

comment Ordering a drink, conversational Japanese
Addressing a male waiter as お兄ちゃん would be another example of bordering-on-rude (situation-dependent). Although personally I think doing this at all is a bad idea. Unless the phrase is short and obvious (like foreign-language expletives), you will then have to translate/explain what is going on and it actually doesn't add anything compared to just stating that she orders a bottle of sake in rather blunt Japanese and the waiter/someone at the next table gives her a dirty look for being uncouth.

comment How can I tell whether a Japanese company's name is in hiragana or katakana?
There is no rule - best to check wikipedia or the company website.

comment negative verb confusion
Don't know why, but I have seen other people confused by some of by some of the Tae Kim translations, so it's not just our OP.

comment What does 忘れたい人 mean?
Since GT uses statistical machine translation, the "why" is presumably to do with how phrases containing 忘れたい女 and 忘れたい人 are translated in the input corpus - any quirks of GT are much more to do with their algorithm and what gets put into it than they are to do with the actual Japanese language.

comment History and Meaning of Soran Bushi
Also, just to reiterate, these songs are similar to military cadences, sea shanties and the like - they aren't written formally in the first place so it's not a case that there was a single "original" and then 伊藤多喜雄 rewrote it.

comment History and Meaning of Soran Bushi
Someone called 伊藤多喜雄 performed that (particular) modern version. You might call it a song inspired by the folk version, or a modern remake. 千切れる here is likely not literal (think "work until your arms fall off").

It can mean polite, but also something done with thoughtfulness/consideration to detail (e.g. 丁寧にアイロンをかける).

comment Unusual dakutens and つ instead of っ
@snailboat ooh, data, shiny. I suspect the OP's problem actually comes from errors in an illicit digital file as opposed to any genuine 'misprint' or other effect but the question at least has caused some interesting discussion.

あの… I didn't think there was an e-book on sale for ノルウェイの森. (At least, not the Japanese version).

Interesting about optional devoicing - I remember a while back reading an online novel by a native speaker who consistently used ベット for ベッド, which at the time I assumed was just an error by the author.

Which edition/page numbers did you find these? Perhaps someone else has the book (I don't) and could check.

comment Are there any rules for choosing between おお and おう?
I'm going off the quote in the link: それが現代では、「通り」も「党利」も、同じように「とーり」と発音することが可能となりました。しかし厳密な発音は、全く同じとは思えません
