comment Is this actually ごぬんくださーい, and does it mean “Excuse us!”?
You seem to have misread め as ぬ.

comment When to use Dono or Nan?
@BlueRaja-DannyPflughoeft X号車 is a counter. The explanation is under B up there. (Specifically in this case, he's asking 'which number train car is it' and expecting a response like 3号車 or something)

comment How do you call someone “Tryhard”?
The idea seems distinctly American to me (Americans seem to have a thing against people taking things seriously); I wonder if Japanese even -can- succinctly express this.

comment Is it common for non-European words to share similar pronunciations between Japanese and other languages in East Asia?
Languages that have borrowed words from Chinese have borrowed words from Chinese, and thus those words will sound fairly similar (due to having been the same word at one point) modulo adaptations to the target language and subsequent changes.

Meta question - any way to turn off HTML code interpretation? I can't properly indicate romanisations with angle brackets because it thinks anything inside them is HTML.

comment Why is the た in 手伝う voiced?
@dainichi - that's tVkVCV, though. (I meant the second part.) You're right about 鼓, the site I was looking at must have mentioned it in error.

和訳で「以外に」と書きましたが、お探しの漢字は「意外」でしょうか (^_^) あと、「意外なことに」という言い方が自然に聞こえるかもしれません (^^♪ しかし‌、和訳を付けた質問はあんまりありませんし、つけてありがとうございました!

comment Does “私は山田さんが描きました。” make sense in Japanese?
I just mentioned it for completeness sake - I was only worried that someone might misread your answer as saying it was never valid. A side note might have been nice, but as far as I'm concerned even just having a comment is fine. I certainly wouldn't have downvoted, especially not with an explanatory comment.

comment Does “私は山田さんが描きました。” make sense in Japanese?
Technically 私は山田さんが描きました is valid for '[someone drew someone else and] Yamada-san drew me'.

comment Why is there a small ッ in 完ッ全?
やっぱり might be a slightly different phenomenon - the lengthening makes it fit the ◯っ◯り adverb pattern seen in things like こっそり or はっきり.
