And 初めて(の) is by -far- the most common way to say 'the first'.

comment “あそこ” is for daily conversation? "あちら is for writing / formal speaking?
It's on a scale far smaller than that of morae, so for all intents and purposes they're the same length. The reason the [ʨ] is longer is that you have to have a stop and slowish noisy release, rather than just some noise or just a stop.

Oh, 美化語. That's a prefix, not an infix - things like お名前 instead of just 名前, or ご両親 instead of just 両親. (And it's a formality marker, really - I actually think it -detracts- from a word's aesthetic appeal, honestly :P)

comment Usage and relation of に to 他
Both の- and な-adjectives are basically nouns + である, and the adverbial (well, 連用形, really a continuative) form of である is に, if that helps.

comment Usage and relation of に to 他
I think you're confused as to how の-adjectives work. The adverb form of 他の is indeed 他に. (Really, the only difference between の- and な-adjectives is the adnominal form.)

comment What exactly does いな mean in Japanese?
@TokyoNagoya - If it's not archaic, it's still certainly unsuited to informal/colloquial speech.
