しゅみについて meaning Do a google search for "japanese noun modifier" and you will find a number of resources. This point is pretty basic, but maybe you did not get that far yet. Also asking about 私はミステリーだアニメが好きです。 should be a separate question since its not related to the question you asked at first. |

Is there some way that a Japanese (sur)name must be written for it to make sense? Please check this previous question Can Japanese names be anything? which may be helpful. |

Etymology of 赤字/黒字 @snailplane Oh well, it sounded good. Good thing I phrased it as a question. Anyway, check (barrypopik.com/index.php/new_york_city/entry/…) under "Google Books - Campbell’s Actual Accounting" which is a reference from 1911. My idea is that Japanese usage was borrowed/transferred from English due to western influence in the early 20th century. |

Etymology of 赤字/黒字 Maybe due to the massive losses from the US 1929 stock market crash, and the storied "stockbrokers jumping out of windows"? |

When we should use kanji? I didn't realize this reason for using katakana. |

Can Japanese names be anything? Could you share some examples, or your specific concern? Otherwise this question is far too vague. |

How to say: (one) month through (another) month But isn't かける more about the passage/period of time as opposed to the specific start/end points? |

How to say: (one) month through (another) month In the US we would say "June through November" and that meaning includes all of November. If you say "from June until/to November", I think its closer to the Japanese から、まで form, although its not specific as to what day of the month. |

Is there a Japanese saying like その頑張りは、すべてむだというかそういう気持ちになる , related to the working conditions of doctors in a hospital? Thanks for your information. In the article, I found the term コンビニ受診 interesting. In the US hospital, you are seen in an emergency room based on need, not first come first served, which seems to be the case in Japan, even when dealing with minor injuries or illnesses. |

Is there a Japanese saying like その頑張りは、すべてむだというかそういう気持ちになる , related to the working conditions of doctors in a hospital? Unfortunately I did not think to save it on my DVR. However the context was basically the same as what jmac related in his reply. Especially the danger of being sued for malpractice was a big concern. If he lost his license, he would be no help at all. |

What is the meaning of 大奥婚? So its like a contraction for 大奥 and 結婚, based on the fact they were both in the recent movie 「大奥 永遠」? Not sure why that didn't occur to me since I saw the movie recently. |
