I'm currently learning Japanese, I knew it would take a while but with all the ambiguity and subtle dishonesty of Japanese learning resources, the it will take has seemed to extend itself. However I am determined to do it, and I hope this site helps a bit. Research takes time and even after hours, days, weeks, or longer of searching for an answer to one question alone, some searches wont be fruitful. Hopefully if long research comes up with no results I can ask here and move from here.

@firtree thanks a lot, that pretty much answers it, really helpful on the nuances of those terms.

@firtree that's what I'm trying to inquire. Is it strange/wrong/rude/offensive for women to use masculine speech, or is it common and acceptable in casual speech?

I'm asking if femininity is sacrificed if 'masculine' parts of speech are used by women. This is said by almost (note, almost) everyone I hear speak about gendered language. However, when I hear japanese women talk (who aren't masculine in the least), I occasionally (often for some women), hear them use so called 'masculine' parts of speech. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think asking if something is masculine of feminine, is asking if somethings rude or polite. It's situational, sometimes riddled with opinion, but isn't invalid asking, although politeness is a bit more precise in japanese

comment Why does 赤 have a negative connotation?
I suppose that does allude to the meaning of most of them, except for 赤口, I don't know how they got Day of Evil out of that.

comment Are all kanji compounds considered words?
+1 for the in depth description and incredible sense of nuance on the term 'word', it's use, and the flexibility of words and word coinage!

@axrwkr I was thinking in general, like is it [colour connotations] even there to begin with, and an example to move on from.

I was just about to ask this, you articulated it much better though.

comment Colour connotations in Japanese language?
@KohsukeKawaguchi In an image one could use a colour to represent something, but the use of the very same colour in language can have a different meaning. I already know what colours mean in Japanese arts in a visual sense, but I don't know what sort of connotation is assigned to colours when written or spoken, if such a thing exists in Japanese like it does in English.

@user18597 It can be answered if someone points out that Japanese does or does not have connotation of colour in the language and hopefully an example. That would be satisfactory.
