An intermediate-level learner with an unhealthy fascination with kanji.

Strong dislike for all "One true way to learn Japanese" pronouncements.

comment When is Vている the continuation of action and when is it the continuation of state?
See Derek's answer, paragraph 4. Are you perhaps confusing the terminology "state change verb" with "stative verb"? Because 送る seems like it could certainly be an active state-change verb.

comment aru vs iru : Why is aru in “Watakushi-wa untenshu-ga aru” (私は運転手がある) unacceptable?
@Jeemusu: I think some of these variants were discussed in the answer that Tsuyoshi Ito-san linked to earlier.

comment aru vs iru : Why is aru in “Watakushi-wa untenshu-ga aru” (私は運転手がある) unacceptable?
@Gradius: This is true. But the two options for explaining this exception (which probably shows up more when talking about a wife) both would seem to allow this case as an exception, but they don't seem to. (On another note, I edited the question to clarify the preferred nature of 'iru' to 'aru'.) This is rather clearly a theoretical question, since the general rule is "don't do that" when you're actually trying to speak the language.

comment The gender of 子
This question probably comes from noticing how common '-ko' is as an ending for girls' names.
