Why is 間{かん} used to denote some amounts of time but not others? You preempted me on the 一時間間 issue, although I kind of suspected that the answer to that would be "just because." If that's the most satisfying answer that anyone can give then so be it, I guess. |

Why is 間{かん} used to denote some amounts of time but not others? The problem isn't remembering, I'm just curious as to why it's not right to say 1年間後 but OK to say 1年後. I've edited the wording of the question to reflect this. |

Payment types in receipts However if you see クレジット支払(額) then you can probably pretty safely assume that much was paid by credit. |

Payment types in receipts Are these all on the same receipt? Do they have numbers next to them? |

Usage of けど / でも It's not as much of a complaint as much as it is a kind of passive way of suggesting that something might be undesirable. That is, it's not really rude. |

Is かわいい wago or kango? @Dono at least in the meanings I'm familiar with and that seem to be used most often 可愛 doesn't seem like too much of a stretch. But at the same time I have no idea how complete my understanding is. |

Is かわいい wago or kango? Is it just a coincidence that those ateji match the meaning so closely or were they chosen specifically for that? |

the kanji 細 which means details Good point. I guess he could have been referring to this but his wording made me think that he was referring specifically to using a lone kanji for its meaning rather than as the independent word. |
