A single downvote on many answers has been a phenomenon that started only after I joined, maybe a year ago. I got a collected 15 upvotes for posting the same comment "Lately anyone's answer attracts a -1" on several downvoted answers... Don't take it too serious. If there's no constructive criticism, there's not much you can do.

Sorry, but I wholeheartedly disagree with your suggestion. Using no space will prevent line breaks and will look terrible when paired with ordinary parentheses in the same document (worse in the same sentence): Japanese (just like Sanskrit, in fact) uses morae(モーラ).
