“Postage stamp” word choice So why does the kanji for this translate to "cut hand"? In most cases, you can connect the conceptual ideas the kanji are tying to convey, but this makes no sense. I wish I had a way to research the etymology of this word. |

Size adjectives and prefixes @ジョン I think I need both a word list and advice when to use what adjective. I know this is difficult when dealing with objects out of context. In this case, I'm assuming that the Japanese think of the unmodified 西瓜 as something you can share with the whole family or a group of friends. |
