comment Why was “一匹” used for Godzilla?
えとね、いったん打ち止めになったら、一番下の「In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 128 already displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.」のところの、you can repeat the search with the omitted results included をクリックしていただければ。もう一回1ページ目からやり直しで、めんどくさいですけどね。。。

comment Telling the speaker apart from the person being spoken about
@Tim (1) Hmm, maybe it's possible depending on the context... but I think it's more natural to read it like "As for the people of Hylia, it is said that they were able to harness..." probably this is because of the words that are used in the example sentence. I'll add another example using different words. (2) 「XXが」の「が」ですね。optionalだと思います。「ハイリアの民は、XXが~~できたと言います」でもいいと思います。

comment と言います vs.と言われています
1. 「あやつることできる」 sounds unnatural. Is that a typo? 2. Are you saying と言っています and と言っていました are more appropriate than と言われています to mean "It is said that~~"?

comment Function of に in this passive construction
@Tim Hehe・・・ In the right frame, Nobita says to his grandson Sewashi, who travelled from the future by Doraemon's time machine, "Am I to marry Jaiko(=Jaian's sister)!? Impossible! No way! I don't like that girl!" So in the left frame, Sewashi responds "Don't complain to me. It's not my fault." and Doraemon says "Shall I show you your photo album (which he has brought from the future)?"

comment Function of に in this passive construction
@Tim この「も」はgoo辞書 の2番の、「逆接の意を表す」で、 『文句を言われても、何もできないよ』(I can't do anything even if you complain to me) という感じだと思います。

comment Function of に in this passive construction
@3to5businessdays Here, the に in 僕に文句言われても困る cannot mark the agent of 文句を言う, because "I can't do anything even if I complain to me" wouldn't make sense. For example, 山田さんに文句言われても困る could be interpreted as either "I will 困る if 山田さん complains" or "I will 困る if (you/someone) complains to 山田さん", and I think it's up to the context.

comment How to express “X sounds like Y”
