This is a follow-up question to Does うるさい have a "negative" connotation.
I've seen うるさい
written as 五月蝿い
.
- 現代では、is this form used often / at all?
- What does this have to do with flies (蝿【はえ】) in May? Do a lot of flies hatch in May due to excessive trash built up from Golden week? Or is there a lot of poop outside for some reason that attracts them? Or dead carcasses?
- Is it at all related to 蝉【セミ】 and May is when they start to come out for the summer, and the [蝉時雨]{セミしぐれ} is unbearably noisy?
