I had always thought that the Japanese didn't have a word for surrender before WWII. It seemed to be plausible given their culture. However, I can't seem to find any solid evidence of this. Is it just a myth?
Edit: I'd like to thank you all for making this such a welcoming place to ask questions. Normally when I have a question I spend quite a bit of time trying to find the answer, because I wouldn't want to waste someone else's time. On this one though, I couldn't find a single sources that either confirmed or denied it. So for the first time ever I asked a question on SE, instead of answering them. Thanks.
